alternator/ac com0presser mounting issue/question

I have a 66 200 ci motor and installed an after market ac system with a "custome" ? mounting bracket for the comprseer and the alternater, my concern is that the alternator is now only an inch or so from the exhaust manifold and I'm worry'd that the heat is slowly killing the alt, I've wraped the manifold with this heat sheilding stuff, ( don't know what it's made of ) to keep the exhaust temps down in the engine compartment and then release further down the line, I bought the stuff at a local off road place in AZ called lopers performance and they tell me that anyone with a heat issue loves it cause it cuts down on engine heat issues,,, does anyone know or think I should go to a metal shop and have a new mounting bracket made? any help or info appreciated

Well I think theoretically, you're right: Wires that heat up cause resistance, which = bad. After you put that heat stuff on, drive around for a little while, get out, and measure the temp of the alternator. Then, I'm sure you could find a few people (including myself) who will try to do the same, and see how much you're off.
