Aluminum Water Pump?

Did the factory ever make a Factory water pump? The reason I ask,is 'cause I was in a local U-Pull-It joint,and,I ran into a guy who was stripping a '80 Zepher 4 door. I noticed that the water pump seemed to be a faded Silver in color(NOT painted.....). And so,I asked the guy ripping it apart could I take a closer look at the pump,and sure enough,it was Aluminum. I could'nt find a Ford part# or anything on it,except for a casting letter(and,a few sharp casting seams.....)sooooooo,anybody know about these pumps. Yes,yes,I know the aftermarket DID make them,but Factory?? OO6.

Steven, I'm surprised you didn't already know this, but back in the late 70's there was a move to build more alloy parts to get the weight of the cars down and the gas mileage up. Several of these parts actually made it into production before the oil cartel threatened the lives of the certain automakers, forcing them back into iron. Even to this day, the Republican oil barons, in cahoots with the Haliburton contractors who are getting fat supplying US military troops in Iraq, who are there to steal oil, are still forcing the US automakers to build reallly heavy, overweight cars. How else can you explain the Escalade? And why there are no casting #'s on the pump. It has to be a conspiracy.

Nope,never seen a FACTORY pump. I've seen maybe 1 or 2 in all the years of stripping/scrapping/buying up junk. I DO have 2 new cast-iron pumps,which are suppose-to-be '64 specific(for my '64 Comet.....),my Fairmont has a cast-iron pump,and so does my '65 Comet 4 door. Hell,even the Junkman's brother's Merc/Capri has a cast pump. Hafta do a wee bit more reaserch on that one. And Jack,I've lived up to MY end of the bargin,what's the idea of "break'n" my 'rocks' :roll: :roll: ???? Conspiracys my foot :!: !! OO6 .

I have the availability to new lifetime warranty extremely high quality aluminum water pumps for 200's. I can get them for 42.00 satin finish or 112.00 fully polished.
