This idea has appealed to me for years.
the 2.3 just isn't a very good truck motor, I got spoiled by a F-150 4x4 with 300 and stick shift.
Everybody thinks the v6 or v8 would be a great swap, well I have looked at the 2.9 motored Rangers and ya can't see the floor, no thank you.
Had thought of using the 200 however to bolt up a T-5 seems a 250 would be the ticket, add a GM type tail housing so the only real trick is retaining the hydrolic clutch?
I have spent the last few days reading the archives but didn't see anything about using the 250 stead of the 200.

As a truck engine the 250 makes a lot of sense. The long stroke is going to produce torque at low revs. The low efficiency of the log head is probably a bit less important in a truck. The height of the engine vs. a 200 is not going to be a problem fitting under the hood of a Ranger. The only problem is the firewall to core support distance. If you're prepared to do some major firewall surgery, go for it.

I was thinking of a radaitor with a hole for the waterpump?
Well I checked and that won't work either, would need a radaitor that could be moved forward bout 4 inches, bout have to be costom made.
Would need a right angle oil filter adapter too as on a 85 Ranger the manual stearing box is in the way.
