200 6 cyl, some where oil is leaking into my bell housing?? the pan is completely dry not one drop on the pan.it is engine oil .Head and valve cover are clean it has all new gaskets and a new rear main seal .it seems to be leaking between the block and trans somewhere ?has any one encountered this problem??the clucth and pressure plate are dry. could it be the flywheel bolts??

Could still be the rear main seal. If the seal was damaged when it was installed, if the mating surface on the crank is too worn down, etc etc. There are several ways for it to still be leaking from the rear main

well I got it all apart and that rear main seal is loose caboose in the main cap??i am now wondering if seal is in backwards?what way should the lip be facing???

inward towards the engine right?? the crank looks fine? and bearing too .is there something going on because I changed from auto to manual??

The lip of the seal (widest part) faces inside towards the cranks oil slinger also stagger the ends of the seal so they are above and below the main caps matting surface. you can use a little dab of silicone on the ends, This video shows how (is about the middle)

and because many of the small sixes orig. came with a rope seals when going with the rubber seal make sure the old holding pin was removed from the cap. Good luck

Hard for me to see but It sure looks like the seal is in backwards (lip is facing towards the flywheel?) Yes it would be better if the pin was ground down flush or driven out. Good luck

I got the pin out and was able to slide the upper seal in while turning the crank.(whine still in the car)with a little soap on the outside and a little oil on the inside of the upper seal.this worked alot better then tapping it in like last time .and also did the 10 and 2 position on the seal with a little FIPG on the ends and a little where the pin was too.so I am feeling alot better about this seal install.not 100% but close to 85% so that is pretty good while doing it with motor still in car. thanks for the advise it helped alot.crossing my fingers and putting the pan on tonight.
