All Small Six Ballast Resistor & DSII

never saw the above ina DSII till round ThanksGiving.
I remember something then as I'd see ina dodge or sompin...
Didn't put one in mine, are they optional? What do they do for any system?

Depends on your coil. If your coil requires a ballast resistor, use one (unless your vehicle has the pink resistor wire in the circuit). If the coil requires full 12V, don't use the ballast (but do bypass the pink resistor wire if it's in the circuit).

At this point my 'pink resistor wire' must B brwn ('70, or 55 yrs old). At least there's a brwn where the pink should B. It's all pretty confusing to me. Probably dont wanna (skull too filled up already?) learn either. Even for my 'dreams'. Just the financial out lay is a hump for me to get over. Also upgrades I'm tryin: DSII is in, Mini starter, G3 (both likewise), H4 headlghts, 2 batteries, winch, sno plow, smoother engine bay (no regulator/starter solinoid, also done) - possibly spool welder'n air compressor. Might start over w/harness that adapts (removes everything/start again) my old to new altho I have added in just the 'new' lill pieces to my 'old'. Then 'the rest' (beyond above list) just dont think others complete this way (like a inverter for a 110 plug to run grinder or wood wrkin miter box)...

The ballast limits current through the coil primary winding so the points (or electronic switch) don't burn up. I seem to remember that, generally speaking, if the coil primary resistance (checked between the "+" and "-" terminals on the coil) is 3 to 4 Ohms, no ballast resistor (or pink wire) is needed. If the coil primary resistance is 1.5 Ohm or less, then you need either the ballast resistor or the pink wire in the circuit. But if you're running an HEI module, you don't need a ballast at all with any coil because the module limits the current through the coil.

Sounds like you have an awesome Bronco in the works. I'm sure it will all turn out perfectly!

my daughter purchased a ill land and needs a place to visit there. Do they call it a deer reserve? or an elk stand? out west...
Anyway the idea is to put upa 12 by or 24 by building to get out of the weather yr round. There's some ol loggin rds and
a pond back there. The bronk was used (much closer to the pavement) 40 yrs ago, when 1st purchased fr the very same (fancier 3'n
4 bed room) idea - get in, start, no wait for a road (now) drive way (then). She has to geta job, I have to finish the rig B4 much of this is
"done". Lots can B (need B) done on the site B4 either of those tho~
The "gear motor for PTO' is for an auger to hang off the frnt bumper. Some bronks (far west) hada similar set up (in the 60s) off the bed
but I have driveshafts, bering hanger, etc for the ol pto winch so will use a tripod up there to hang it. I like it better as @ my age lookin over a shoulder is not so easy. Neck aint da swivel it usta B.
