My 200 has been missing some at idle for a while and recently it's started feeling like it's missing at speed at well. I've been meaning to get down to Gene 2dr to help diagnose but it's either been too nasty to pull the car out or work has been busy crazy and just haven't been able to get over there.
Today is a nice day (albeit cold with a windchill to throw in!) so I pulled the car out to check the tire pressure, run it for awhile, and see if I could find the source of the miss. I started pulling spark plug wires. The first one I pulled gave me a nasty shock. These are supposed to be insulated, right? I was getting a shock from the boot. If I move my hand back along the wire I don't have the problem so much. I didn't seem to notice this on the other wires.
I'm still kinda new to all this, but I shouldn't be able to get a jolt through the wires, right? Could bleed through of the electrical charge be causing my miss? I don't know how old the wires are. The car was running OK when I bought it so I didn't go through the ignition system.
Oh, and pulling the wires one by one didn't give me a culprit. Car ran worse while each wire was off.
