Bolting the engine hoist to the 200?

I'm going to be pulling out the 200 out of my Comet this weekend and I need to know where to attach the engine hoist. What bolts do you attach the hoist to? Is there anything tricky about pulling out the motor/trans together?

Be careful about using exhaust manifold bolt holes for lifting the engine; easiest way to break them off.
See if you can find some of the lifting eyelets from the later engines (Granadas, Fox Bodies, Mavericks), that's what they were made for.

The lifting brackets standard on later years bolt in front of the distributor and to accy' bracket holes on integral intake.. Slotted steel or fabbed smilar setup can be used. The engine can then be balanced and tilted front to rear fairly easily with a "leveler" for R/R wiith or without tranny. Without the eyes you can make a loop sling of rope or chain for engine R/R but tilting enough to clear the rad support with the tranny attached would be a challenge.

I used the extra bell housing bolts in the back and the bolts that hold that plate on above the oil filter. Not sure if all the blocks had these holes or not. The 3 I have all have em. At first I used some bolts that were lower on the block. I dont remember which ones those were but after I got it out and took the transmission off the engine just flipped itself over. As far as with the transmission that what I usually do even if I dont need to work on it. The tranny will usually find a way to leak out the tail when its at an angle especially if its an auto so be ready for that. Having a leveler like pictured above is pretty much required if you are taking the trans with it. Be sure to give yourself enough clearance between the crane and top of engine for the angle that will be required. Also remember that you will then also need more height for the crane (especially if you are working indoors).

Thanks guys, I ended up using an accesory bolt hole on the intake log, a coil bracket hole, and another accesory bolt hole by the oil filter. Used a load leveler and it came out easy.
