Boring Out The Intake Hole???

My machinist wanted me to ask, specifically what method others have used on boring out the intake hole on the manifold from 1 1/2" to 1 3/4".
The head is a C7 if that makes a difference.

I used a die grinder with a grinding stone to open my old 66 head up. It took about a 1/2 IIRC.

Thanks Doug, And thanks for your informative site. I just finished porting and polishing the head and told my machinist I was not going to do that again.
He thought it would take a grinder unless someone had a special 1 3/4" bit. He was going to think about it and I think I will let him. Last resort is I pull my grinder out again.

Did you make the hole perfectly round?

Gary, just use a carbide bit. It will munch that cast iron almost too quick.

I scribed it out and made it as close to round as I could It doesnt have to be perfect though!
