Carburetor Identification

Hi Steve,
That is a Autolite or Motorcraft Model 1940 carb. It was never installed as original equipment on any Fords. It is a replacement carb for the 1100 which was installed in production. I have 2 of them so I recognized it from your pics. BTW they came with 1-7/16" and 1-3/4" throttle bores. Probably a little more CFM from the larger one.

Hi Steve,

Mike is right, that's what is called a Model 1940 carb. I had one on my car for about 7 years and after a rebuild, it ran like a champ. Personally I liked it a lot. Mine never had any of the "issues" described to the original 1100 carb.

They still have rebuild kits for those? I have one floating around in the garage. Maybe it's for sale.

It's a holley 1940. It's what they replaced the autolite 1100 with. I personally find it to be a much better carb. It's what's on my mustang right now. I love it. =) Very easy rebuild.
