Classic Inline's short tube headers Question

I just purchased a set of headers that came from Classic Inlines when it was still called "fordsixparts.com". They are the duel out short tube headers, that I see are no longer offered on the web page. They are new and never installed. I was looking them over and see that the holes where the exaust flows from the head into the tubes are not cut out good. They are irregular. Also, the gasket supplied doesn't match up with the mounting holes. I had thought about using the gasket supplied to clean it up some, but I don't know what could be out of sorts, either the gasket or the mounting holes. What are the chances of the holes in the flange being in the wrong position? If the are, will it hurt to drill one or two out just a bit to make it correct? I am hoping that the gasket is what is throwing everything out of sorts. Were there any problems with the short tube headers, being the reason they are no longer offered?

We had two batches of short tube headers produced. The flanges on the first batch were fine, but not so good on the second batch (mainly around the third and fourth ports). They will work just fine as is, or you can port match them if you want. Personally I wouldn't worry about it unless your trying to pull every last ounce of power from your six. However if you decided to port match the header, check the gasket alignment on the cylinder head. If it looks good, use it for your pattern. If not, modify the gasket so it does.

Unfortunately I had the same problem on the last batch of long tube headers, and refused to accept them. At first, they just wanted to return my deposit and told me to take my business elsewhere. Another fine example of what I call "American Big Manufacturer Mentality", they just don't give a $###. In the end, I got them to remake the headers, with new flanges.

However, I also decided to take their advise and take my business elsewhere. Hence the reason we no longer offer the short tube header, but that's about to change. I've been searching for a different manufacturer ever since, and finally found a company that I'm going to try. So far, I've been very impressed with the samples I've looked at. They are currently in the process of building a short tube prototype, and if all goes well we'll be placing our first order with them in a few weeks. The part I like most, is that they offer a stainless steel upgrade at a very reasonable cost.

Mike, used to stock the Hooker 6601 full long tube headers. It may be possible he can still get them at a decent price???
I believe they have a limited coverage of years they fit. Bill
