engine wont start now so i pulled all the plugs and replaced them i got to the one in cylinder 6 pulled it out and found the prong on the plug crushed back into the plug... replaced anyways to see if it would run anyway since it was the last one... still wont start. the plugs also seem to have oil on them.
before replacing the plugs when you cranked it and gave gas it would make a pop noise but now with the new plugs it doesnt make the pop but still wont start!
PLEASE HELP!! i need to get it running soon as i can.
thanks,

did you check the new plug to see if there is interference,, crushed ground electrode?

i am ssure i am not telling you anything you dont expect but it sounds real bad
on a possitive note were you by anychance planning to rebuild it soon? now is your opertunity

did you check the cam timing? timing chain?

i am assuming it has been run b4? run well? is the dizzy 180 degrees out?

I would pull the rocker shaft and check the rocker arms. When I was refurbing my engine this winter, I found that the oil passages in the rocker shaft were full of gunk, and the rocker arms were binding and scoring the shaft. I was probably not far away from having one of them freeze up.

Sticking rocker arms or valves could cause both of the problems you described. Take a look at the oil passage sticky at the top of this forum, and check this thread for what can result if you don't:

The only thing in the cylinder that could hit the sparkplug is the piston. The fact that it won't start means something has happened. Sounds like the valve timing has changed. Check the timing chain.

well the valve head is floating around in there also?

if the valve is open when it reaches TDC .. blam-O and i am thinking if the cam is that far off it would not start either

OR a old 2 peice valve coulda popped loose but i'd think the other 5 would start it and the rattle of the valve head rattling around well
id think that you would definately of noticed that happening

was the sparkplug the same as the rest before we look

has it been rebuild and a longer connecting rod installed

find a new gasket, a few beer and pop the head off and consume the beer, crying is optional

unless you know anyone with a borescope you could take a peak in

I had a strange knock in my old motor. Odd because it would come and go.

I found bits of metal what looked like a roller bearing bashed to hell and back in number six hole. Four and five also had damage, but looks like the bits of metal made it out past the valves. Amazingly enough, none of the cylinder walls were scored.

All I could think of this cruel carnage was that some evil force was out to get this innocent 200 engine by dropping bearings down the carb.

I wouldn't wish this on anybody...

i just had the cam and distributor done recently it was running fine untill this that was about 3 months ago that i had everything done so for about three months it was fine till this

I'm suggesting a compression test, too. From memory the motor never ran well as it should've after the modifications, so I think wet and dry tests are in order.

A no start condition could be distributor gear wear - was a hardened gear fitted?

Thinking about my earlier reply, I don't see how a valve timing change could do that. A valve hitting the piston yeah, but under that circumstance, I don't see how that could affect the sparkplug. I'll stay out of this one as I don't seem to have any good ideas about what is happening.
