Well, got the compression checked out and they said that it was the same except for the #1 piston, which was at 120 I believe. The mechanics seems to think it needs a valve job or something. What yall think?
Matt
Matt, what did the other cylinders test? Regardless where is the leak? Do a wet compression test-that means putting some oil in each cylinder. If the #'s rise its a leak from ring seal, if no change its valves or head gasket. Next put compressed air in cylinder #1 & listen for air escaping from, intake, exhaust & or crankcase. That will find the problem. While you have the valve cover off spin the engine over & make sure equal valve lift on each valve, just checking for a wiped cam lobe.
Keep us informed. william
I want to say that they were at 180 or so, but I dont know for sure, I will ask when I hear from them, hopefully tomorrow sometime. I will let yall know then! Oh, and yeah, there is a thermostat, the motor is in running form.
Matt
Matt, just to be sure check the valve adjustment on #1 cylinder. Make sure you don't have a valve too tight??? Looks like you have a fresh engine. Check for a valve guide problem Or a broken valve spring, although this a rare condition with todays quality springs. If you didn't put hardened seats in the exhaust & have driven many miles see if you have exhaust valve seat ression?? Let us know. william
