distributor oiling hole

My 170 distributor oiling hole is stopped up. I have got the wick (I assume it had one) and other crud out of the hole. I have soaked it all night in gasoline and all morning in lacquer thinner. I have blown compressed air in and not any air or liquid will go through. I wonder in I could drill a small hole through there and fill the big part of the oiling hole with felt to act as a wick. Yes, No, I'm sure someone else has solved this some way. Any other ideas how to do it or ways NOT to do?

I may not be understanding what you are talking about. But often the oiler holes just drip oil right onto the bearings. I don't think you would want to drill a hole through the oiler unless you were going to plan on removing the distributor and replacing the bearings.
Are you saying that the oil level does not run down the oiler once you top it off? If so, it could be that someone has rebuilt the distributor and installed sealed bearings, that have a plastic dust cover that is preventing the oil from draining into the bearings. And if they are sealed bearings, theoretically you do not need to oil them via the oiler.

I have completely dissembled the distributor to clean it up and to free up the advance plate which was stiff. With the shaft out I would think that oil should run into where the shaft goes. I would especially think putting gas in the oil hole and blowing compressed air behind, that I would at least get a little moisture in where the shaft goes. Am I wrong thinking this?

Does it have a continuous sleeve bushing, or two separate top and bottom bushings? I didn't actually see reference to which distributor you have.

There is usually a hole in the side of the body casting where it slots into the block, to allow slight oil pressure into either the void between bushes, or the single bush unit. Your advance plates are normally lubed by dropping lightweight oil six monthly into the top of the shaft recess with the rotor removed.

This distributor has a #12127 on it. It has 2 bushings, the top one bronze. the lower looks like same material as the distributor casting. I don't know what you mean by hole for pressure oil to inter. Only hole is the one with the little spring loaded lid to squirt oil in. That top bushing looks like it goes down deeper than where the oiling hole goes. That is the hole I can't get any thing to go through.

I have got that advance plate free. My shaft hasn't got a recess to drop oil in.

Seems everything on this truck that is supposed to move doesn't and what shouldn't does.
