I went to Autozone and asked for a '78 Fairmont distributor and single and dual vacuum popped up for the two options...
I want to upgrade to DS II for the electronic points vice my current loadomatic mechanical points...
I'm assuming that the single vacuum advance is the one I want and not the dual vacuum (which is for the smog emmissions stuff - based on previous postings) - is this right?
Also, I have and Autolight 1100 so the vacuum advance on my current distributor is connected to the carb. If I get the '78 single vacuum distributor, where do I connect the new distributor vacuum (manifold or carb)?
From reading previous posts, the loadomatic distributor runs off of a lower vacuum vice later model ditributors - so the loadomatics connect to the carb and the later vacuum advance distributors connect to the manifolds...right?
I changed the distributor on my car (65 Mustang / 200 cid) a long time ago and I'm not sure if I even have the right distributor. Could I have a later vac + mech distributor? If so, does that mean that I should have the vac port connected to the manifold now? How can I tell?
