engine coming out

i am taking it slowly but i am removing my engine today/tomorow, i have to take it easy as i have Chronic Fatigue and exerting myself can put me in bed for days, i have an engine crane and a leveller, my question is to where you lift from, i am leaving gear box in for now, so i would gather a bell housing bolt hole and maybe a front head bolt? Any help appreciated, i have decided to do the rear main seal out of the car with a neoprene one, i also got hold of a steel shim head gasket and NOS gasket set so may use all them as well. On the other hand i may be purchasing a 221 with machined out 250 head and single rail 4 speed, this motor has a ported head, crow valve springs, anti pump lifters and a 500 Holley, all it needs is a mild hyd cam to be a fast little motor. If i have time to do it all, as we have our Six Banger Nats coming up in a few weeks, or i will continue to re gasket my little 200, i am not rebuilding the whole engine at this stage, but you think its worth while taking the valve train off and cleaning out the shaft etc, head has been off and replaced with a 221 head about 10 years ago

I would connect the leveller to the left front of the block where the p/s bracket would normally bolt on and from the rear section
of the exhaust manifold. Hope this Helps.

i’ll give that a go, the legs don’t go under the wagon without fouling the suspension, so looks like i’ll have to jack it up, i’d prefer not to do the head bolts, my old engine has the tube down the front passenger side, i’ll have another look to see where i can do it from

Engine is out, head off, the motor is a 68 200, low mileage motor, standard bore, still has cross hatching, no lip, look’s like the head had some coin spent on it, it has been milled as its a 221 head with 250 combustion chambers, the original motor had 346,000 miles on it. Turn’s out the replacement motor only has 35,000 k’s. So my whole premise of running a standard 46 year old motor is almost right, the head has hardened seats, new guides, etc, so we are freshening it up with a valve job, new stem seals, and while the valves are out is getting ported a bit. I am doing the exhaust valves my self when i pick it up later, the bottom end is fine, just needs the new rear main seal and a new gaskets. I also have a steel shim head gasket. Should go a little better. My previous best was 11.95 over eighth mile, so all freshly sealed and ported should get me a bit quicker.
