Well it was my starter. The gears were sliding back hitting the flywheel. Now after putting a new trans mount in my fan is hiiting the bottom of the radiator. Now I will be putting in new engine mounts so hopefully it will fix it.
They start was causing the sound. But since I replaced the trans mount it changed how the angle the engine sat. So now I will replace the engine mounts. At least I will have new mounts.
Glad you chased it down Yep always a good idea putting all the mounts in new and at the same time. And after they are all installed recheck the throttle linkages and the trans shifter linkage to make sure they line up right. good luck
Are you sure you got the correct trans mount??? If the fan is hitting the bottom of the rad, it sounds to me like the mount has the trans sitting to low in the back. If the fan wasnt hitting before installing the new mount I would do some investigating to make sure it is in right or is the correct one.
You didnt pull the trans crossmember out and get it back in upside down did you??
Nope all is installed the way it came out. The mount looked just like the old one that was falling apart. I did double check. But my motor mounts or shot to so not sure if they moved. SO I will be putting new ones in tomorrow or saturday.
Thanks to all for the help. Now I will be installing all my new suspension parts in a few weeks. Changing over to five lug and in stalling GT front springs and 4 1/2 mid eye leaf with KYB gas-a-just shocks with Coy's C-67 wheels. I will post pics under suspension when I am all done. Hopefully by some time in Dec.
