EOBE heads

I found a place that has an EOBE-6090 head for sale. How do I know that it's not a hex shaped log head without seeing it?

Howdy Ski:

The E0XXs i've had a chance to look at and measure have a unique log shape, more full than the earlier hex shaped logs, but not flat-topped. They also measure out over 1400 ccs- slightly large than flat-tops or earlier hex log heads.

I cannot say for certain that the extra internal volume is helpful or just the extra EPA ports and bungs cast into the later head.

Hope that helps you.

So, when upgrading a head, one should stick with the C9 through D8 casting numbers? All of these having the 1.75" carb throat with the D7's and D8's having the largest of the "flat topped" logs?

I started getting confused with the "car model years" and the "casting numbers".

Howdy back:

Well, the flat top logs are easier to modify for direct mounting a carb(s). I have an EO in the shed and will use it to modify next. I'll know more later.

I've got two identical E0BE heads and the intakes are hex-shaped. For the current head on the "new" engine I had the shop weld and mill a place for 2V direct attach adapter. It can be done pretty easily but requires some welding.

80Stang: Are you using both of you EOBE heads? I may be interested if the direct mount process to the hex head works well.

Nice pictures! I like the slight distortion of the lens; reminds me of the 28mm one on my Nikon.

Where did you get that 2v adapter? Was it originally the GEN1 setup but cut down to fit the log?

The first rebuild was just a total rebuild with .063 milled head, headers and a Comp 260H cam. Carburetion was std Holley 1V 1946. Oh maybe you mean the test adapter that I used for testing the Autolite 2V on this previous engines 1V log head; it is Transdapt, bought it from Northern Autoparts if I remember right ($13). You'll find it and other interesting adapters from www.transdapt.com. No mods on the adapter, fits right in.

I bought the current adapter from Mike at FSPP. It just adapts Rochester 2V to Holley 2V pattern. On top of it is a aluminum 1" spacer, Ford original from a '64 260 full motor...need it to clear the choke adj screw from hitting the log while WOT.

Is that adapter similar to this?

That's the one I was referring to. Sorry for the misunderstanding but I don't think that will work for me. I'm looking for an adapter that would allow me to directly mount a Holley/Weber to the log (possible two, sort of like I have now but without a funnel).

I'll look at the website and see if I can't use something they have for my application.

Yes, similar, just different brand.

Stang200: to adapt a Holley to the log it is probably easiest to do with that adapter, if you are going to make mods to the log anyway.
