It seems I cannot get my pipe to seal properly with my manifold.I have tried a fibre gasket, steel gasket and I am still getting a leak.
I noticed that the opening to my manifold is completely flat whereas my old one has a groove in it to accomodate the angle in the donut gasket but my new one does not.
Can someone tell me why and what to do next?
Thanks

Howdy:

The early, 1960 - 1962 exhaust manifolds had a flat mating surface to the head pipe. 1963 and later used the donut and firewall style of connection.

The early manifolds have a 1.75" opening. The later ones have a 2" outlet. The head pipe connection must match the manifold outlet type.

Adios, David
