Ford Trivia

Does anyone know which wire carries the power from the battery to the ignition? I have a small wire that is red with a light blue stripe and then I have a yellow wire that is much larger that comes off the starter side of the starter relay. One of these has fusible links that have gone bad and needs to be replaced.

Traditionally, the light guage red wire with the blue stripe is the 12 v triggr wire to the starter solenoid. On most of the newer fords, Big yellow under the dash at the steering column is the main power to the key. I have also seen gray with yellow and even black!

the big yellow wire is your starter wire, touch it to a + source and the starter will turn over.

there are 2 other wires on your ignition switch, both look red, but one is actually pink and has a 'bullet' connector a few inches from the switch. right after the connector it gets fat, this wire is for your ignition. it runs to the + terminal of your coil. i believe it is brown with a green stripe (someone will correct me if im wrong) when it comes out the other side of the firewall, into the engine bay.

the part where it gets fat is the resistor, it looks like a regular wire, but its a resistor. is that what needs replaced?
