FSP Alloy Valve Cover

I just received my cover and have a few questions for those that have already installed one of these covers. Did you install a baffle plate underneath the breather holes? What do you use for this plate? Also, what did you use for breathers/pvc? Since there is no lip to hold in the gasket did you have issues with the gasket wanting to squish out when tightening the bolts? Thanks for any help!

I think Mike has a steel core rubber valve cover gasket and I intend to use that and studs to mount the valve cover.

I havent looked into breathers or filler yet.

Nope. Just use a baffled breather or PCV. If you didn't buy one from Mike you can use the Spectre Brand from most autopart stores.

I used a cork gasket with no "squish" problems.

I cut a baffle out of some sheet metal and rivited in place. Used a grommet from Mr. Gasket for the PCV and a Vented oil cap from Mr. Gasket. As for the cover gasket. Didn't use one. Just put a bead of RTV and let it set up over night.

bought a breather cap with it's own seal and a pcv and grommet for the rear. No probs with either.

Cork gasket - again no probs. Greased both sides to seal and prevent sticking.

The only issue I had was bolts. The bolts and washers on the original didn't fit and look crap anyway so I bought so dome head nuts and studs. The dome heads are too wide for some of the holes. I ended up using the long chrome studs.

Gene,
I cut 2 squares out of some steel plate and drilled/tapped the 8 bosses under the cover and just screwed the plate to the bosses. I also used JBWeld to hold the screws in place.

For those who get the Alum. head, you probably don't need to worry about this to much as the valve cover is sitting about 1" higher above the rocker arms then a stock head. You'll just need to use one of those rubber baffles that stick into the filler hole.
