Since the stock routing of the fuel line from the carburetor to fuel pump has it running along side the valve cover, close to the manifold, and wrap close to the top radiator hose causes any potential with vapor lock or hot fuel issues?
It should not be all that hot in that area (with operating temps of 160 too around 220 inside Rad)! Also the fuel line is not touching the coolant directly so would be more of a radiant heat that is even less. Couple things you could try to see if it’s a problem area. Try 1 or more of the wooden clothespin clipped on the fuel line it does work. The wood basically soaks up the heat from the line, radiating it to the air. You can insulate the fuel line by cutting an appropriate diameter rubber fuel line, splitting it install over the hardline for insulation. Lastly and usually one of the best is to also make a plastic spacer (even plywood will work) to isolate the carb from heat. If you want to move the fuel line than the coolest area to run it would be in front of the Rad away from the heat all together.
The fuel line gets pretty hot
I installed a 3/8 inch thick phenolic spacer between the manifold and the carb
I added an aluminum faced foam insulating tape around the upper fuel line, held in place with
clear packing tape (like the post office sells) and also placed nylon tie-wraps around all that every few inches
to keep the tape from unravelling
Vapor lock shouldnt be an issue with the fuel system. Too much fuel pressure will cause flooding if your carb has been rebuilt.
The best thing you can do is to install a fuel pressure regulator with a bypass back to the fuel tank. Set the reg to 2.5 lbs or less
