Gas injectors, true or false?

Is there such things as gas injectors?? we all know about fuel injectors but are there some for gas now?? i keep hearing conflicting storeys!

You can make the stock petrol injectors work for Lpg, but the system isn't avaliable off the shelf for the price ($$$) most people want to pay.

If you want cutting edge, BRC (in cahoots with Impco) make a similar set-up. The Dutch and other Italians are making world class systems too.

You will be the pioneer in the system in Australia, as the earlier Vapour sequential injection were by Biophase/Liquiphase and Parnell in 1994-1995. Issues with saftey made them back out of full scale production.

Liquid propane injection is some way off, as the groundwork on safety has to be covered off in an increasingly litigation bound world.

Heck, we pump propane at 275 Kpa, and have done so for years, but the stepper pumps for fuel pressure regulation between empty and full are still not full proof.

LPG injection is a very beautiful thing.

LPG injection "is" the future of street performance modification, in my opinion. (mainly due to the epa, and rising petrol prices)

I think its really exciting and I cant wait until I run it myself.

There's a guy doing gas injection in Australia, although hes not at the point where he can sell it large scale.

Yeah should bring about a revolution at the dragstrip. Heard some tale of and old Ferrari that was converted to run on LPG in its liquid form and supposedly power increased 60% and torque 100%. I guess there is a lot of energy in the liquid LPG turning into gas in the combustion chamber, along with the power of combustion. Cant wait to try it on an inline!

Devils in the detail, dudes.

The GTi sequential vapour injection system integrates the high octane properties of Autogas with the advanced engineering of today's performance vehicles, enhancing performance while reducing harmful exhaust emissions and global warming.

VSI stands for "vapour sequential injection", it points directly to the most important properties of the system. This second-generation gas injection system is based on a vapour LPG injection that is injected sequentially in the engine. Sequential means that the LPG injectors will inject the LPG in the sequence equal to that of the petrol injectors. This sequence in most applications is equal to the firing order of the ignition sequence of the engine, for example with a 4-cylinder engine this is normally 1-3-4-2. Sequential injection means that the amount of injected fuel per cylinder can be metered and timed individually

Vapour Injection System

I know LPG systems, and its not liquid injection, buddies.

In a scale of one to 10, the liquid propane injection is 9 out of 10 for hard to do. It's not that you can't do it, it's that the correct safegaurds must be used. EFI vapour injection is very safe, but the liquid injection system isn't becasue the eventual sucessfull system may will need custom injectors may need to be pre-heated to avoid a serious freeze-up.

CSI proves that dead men do tell tales, but I'd not touch it untill it meets the brilliant safety of the existing vapur gas carb and vapour injection systems.

wrap the injector rails around the intake tracts, voila perfect opportunity to cool the intake charge even more!

I knew it was only vapour injection. The results they have achieved are still very impressive. This LPG vapour injection system has to be better for tuneability, reliability, power and economy, (not to mention compatibility with contemporary EFI vehicles) than a gas "carby".

If you saw 'new inventors' on the ABC a couple of weeks ago a bloke in Sydney has come up with a gas injector that is a direct replacement for the standard petrol injectors - it even runs the standard computer and sensors! Claims are good improvements in fuel economy etc.

Kendall.
