anyone with a '66 mustang,

how far does you're gas pedal travel until it hits the carpet ?

i'm setting up my throttle linkage and I don't have my brake pedal hooked up to judge the correct placement.

I only want to bend this bar once

Check your shop manual. If it bottoms out too early, just pull up on it once it is in place.

I"m not sure what the brake pedal has to do with the gas pedal??
but hold the carb wide open the then pull the linkage toward it and see how far it has to go.. to hold it at WOT..

I like the pedals to be atleast close to the same height
i'll be able to set WOT later.

ludwig, if I had a shop manual

 There is no way the gas pedal is going to move as far as the brake pedal :? Gas pedal is only about 2" to 3" above the floor...
If yu put the gas pedal as high as the brake pedal you well have full throtal about 3" to 4" above the floor.
Now an automatic brake pedal might be closer to the floor.
The best way to set the go pedal is to hold the carb at WOT. and pull the linkage toward it (or have someone hold it to the floor) and see where it stops and adjust it from there..

What Tim said. The ratio of pedal to carb linkage travel is set by the length of each arm. To change ratio, you need to lengthen and shorten the arms. Not really practical.

If you have the standard Z-bar throttle linkage, you an adjust the pedal travel at the carb with that little threaded clip thingy. It will go up and down an inch or more. Inside the cab, you don't need the pedal; the linkage rod itself will do. Just ask any sheep farmer. All the pedal does is keep the rod from poking through the hole in yer boot.

here's the deal, i'm changing the stock setup to integrate with the oz250/holley350 setup. I have freedom to change any of the ratios.
i'm looking to have a near stock setup in the car. that's why i was asking what's your distance from the carpet.

as far as the operation, I'm able to adjust as I go 8)
thanks for the replys. i'll start at 4" from the carpet and go from there.

As a generic rule from my circuit racing experience, you want the gas pedal just below the brake pedal when the brake is full on.... Of course this doesn't always suit all road cars.
It's certainly approx the case on my Falcon, makes it much easier to heel & toe (lucky as I have no emergency brake for hill starts at the moment!)

   there are a few hills in redondo 8)

i've bent and cut the stock rod and i'll come up with a adjustable link to connect it to the holley 8)
