It has been quite some time since I posted anything about my mustang, but here's the news. I just got home and saw my new roller-tipped rockers from Mike. They are beautiful. I have been waiting to get my hands on these rockers almost four months. Anyways, now is the time to get my car running.
In the next couple weeks I'll have some time to work on my car, so I'm looking forward to get my car at least running in gear. I've removed the Pertronix II unit from the dizzy and will no longer run that ignition system. I am looking forward to installing a Duraspark II w/MSD 6 box in the future.
Here's the run down on my intentions for the setup to get the car running:
67 dizzy w/points
Autolite standard spark plugs w/ 7mm wires
1 barrel PonyCarb carb
roller-tipped rockers
Now for the Questions:
1. How should I prep the rockers/pushrods?
Last time I soaked the pushrods in oil and put a few coats of oil on the rockers before installation.
2. What would be the wisest choice of carbs?
I have my rebuid of the PonyCarb and also Stovebolt's Holley/Weber 2 brl sitting around. Last time I started the car with the 2 brl, but didn't have much success to idle properly
3. What's the best way to avoid bending my valves again?
4. Anything that I'm leaving out?
Hope all the info is here, if not, I'll reply. Thanks in advance.
