today, Napa delivered my pistions fitted to the old rods. I would have gotten new rods, if I knew what to get, but I have mid 60's forged rods anyway. block is getting finished up, should have it next week.
Not out of round when the new ARP bolts were torqued down?
You've gone to the trouble of getting forged pistons, from what I recall - it would be worth checking all the ancillary detail, or something else may prove to be the weak link.

I did end up not getting the forged pistions. ended up going with Mikes Cast flat tops .30 over from Speed Pro. I torqued the rod bolts down and checked each and every 1 with a dial bore gauge very carefully, they were/ are perfect. the cylinder bores, were only .001 out of round, but I had it taken .030 over anyway.
I would double check the big ends of the rods on the crank. place some plasticgage on the bearings and dry fit them to check clearance. check a side (near the split) and a top/botton spot and compare the clearances.
