H/W 5200 Mounting

Has anyone here direct mounted the H/W 5200 with the primary and secondary parallel to the engine? I was not sure of how the carb was designed to be mounted until I talked to Tom at stovebolt who said it was designed to be mounted with the primary and secondary perpendicular to the engine. This engine is going in a daily driver so stalling when I corner is not an option. I really want to do a direct mount because the dyno info on CI showed a great difference in power over a direct mount vs. adapter mount. If i can't use this carb, what carburetor would work well with a 200 and be capable of mounting parallel to the engine. The 200 has .030"over dish pistons, zero-deck block, '77 log w/mild port&polish, 9.0CR, DurasparkII, and mild cam[cam specs are at apt. and i'm at work...].

I have mine mounted parallel, on an adapter, and haven't had any problems with stalling or flooding. I have a A/F ratio meter and I can see that it will run leaner or richer depending on which way I turn, but hasn't stalled out because of it.
