H/W Adapter

I just ordered a new H/W progressive 2bbl from Stovebolt. Clifford doesn't have any of the adpaters for this carb for another 3 weeks and I really need an adapter. Why do you have to use the original spacer with the Stovebolt adapter? Is it just for the purpose of heating the fuel mixture? I have seen a few other places that sell an adapter like TD Performance or JAM Engineering, are these adapters any better than the Stovebolt? I have a 77 head so I need an adapter that is going to fit this head. What is everything that would need to be done to use one of these adapters and which is the best choice? How much hassle is it to use one of these adapters? This adapter would be used on a 77 200 in a 62 Comet. Thanks.

Could I use the Holley 350 adapter from Clifford and just drill new holes to make it fit the H/W? Is there any way of modifying it to make it work?

HI
Something to think about when Fabracating an adapter is getting it to line up wiht carb linkage and moveing it the right direction.. hood clearance with the air cleaner on..
Just a thought.
