Wow! I can't believe what a difference in power and acceleration! I swapped my stock ’66 200 head with a ’79 milled .060â€. I did a light port job/match on the exhaust ports and exhaust manifold and welded in a divider. I also made an adaptor plate out of 1†aluminum plate and added a Holley 5200. The only other thing I’ve done is the dizzy swap to a dual-vacuum Duraspark. I drove it for the first time this morning and was very pleasantly surprised.
I do have a couple of questions for the experts though. When the head was off I noticed that I have flat-topped pistons and only three freeze plugs. I assume that this means I have a ’65 engine? Does anyone know where I can check the VIN to find out for sure what year this car is? The title says ’66 but I’m not so sure anymore. Also, did they put some of the 4 bearing engines in the ‘66’s? Thanks for the help!
