Header/Starter interference

Has anyone bought and installed a single outlet header from Clifford recently? I've heard of interference with the starter or somtimes the idler arm on falcons, but that was awhile back and I'm wondering of that's been fixed in production yet. There's one for sale here on the forum, but it's already been coated and I don't want to have to take a hammer to it to get it to fit

If your interested, my new headers will be ready in about a month. I just went down last Wed and looked at the proto type, which was temporarily tacked together. Now they will weld it up a bit stronger, so it can be test fitted on a few different applications. Once thats done, it will only be a couple more weeks. So I'm guessing about mid Jan.

Back three tubes are just like the Pacemakers (great starter clearance), front three are more like Cliffords (to clear the low mount starters), then they were shortened a little and collector flanges were welded on.

I'll post some pics as soon as I can. Price for a dual out will be about $275-300. I still need to get the bill for the R&D time before setting the final cost.

Thanks, Az- I'll keep it in mind. I just spent $170 for a new head pipe and gasket for my stock manifold, so I'm not in a real hurry to do it again  I'd really still prefer the single outlet, though, unless the outlet end of the 2 into 1 Y-pipe does not hang below the bottom of the toeboard (this is why I like the clifford shorty S/O )

My car is low- very low, and I don't want the head pipe to stick down below the lower front frame rails that go under the floor pan on each side. It's a visual thing as well- I've never cared for the look of long tube headers on v-8 cars that sit below that bottom of that rail and you can see them from standing back looking at the car from the side. My current pipe is not visible unless you stand way back and squat down, and I'd like to keep it that way if possible.

Hmm- interesting. I'll try soaking my manifold gasket in water before I replace it this week. I guess I don't understand about the single outlet header- is there just not a market for it anymore? I'm not dissing Mike's stuff- I'm just a simple guy who likes simple things - in function and looks  I've heard the single outlet is quieter as well, but maybe that's just due to the lake of an extra pipe out the back. I come from the thought that if your car is not fast, it shouldn't sound fast

Mike also sells a Y-pipe for the headers. I had one when I wasn't sure what I'd end up with, but finally went dual.

I think there is less of a market.
