Heater line output nipple

I have a 1966 200 block with a later square log head on it. I need the drivers side heater hose output, but everything I've come across is the same as the passenger side: a threaded brass nipple that screws directly into the block. On my block, it appears to be an open outlet with two threaded mounting holes diagonal from each other. Wish I had a pic, but my camera is kaputt. Anybody know what year I need to look for to find this thing? I imagine it as a bracket with a centered nipple with two mounting holes that match the block. Does this make any sense to anybody? Does anybody have one? This is the last thing I need before I fire up the motor for the first time. I suppose I could make a blank plate for it, tho eventually I'll need it so I don't freeze in the winter. Thanks for the help!

New one for me. Both of mine, the drivers side comes from the water pump, passenger side from block. I have the same thing you are talking about, but it has a freeze plug in it. I'd like to see that arragement if any one has a pic using it. That port is covered by the PS pump bracket on my Bronco, which is from a 65 Mustang.

Thats exactly it! Mine doesnt have a freeze plug in it tho. I found the second output for the heater line on top of the water pump exactly as you described, although it has a allen head screw in it I'll need to remove and replace with a port. So what the hell is that hole on the side of the block then? And where do I find the freeze plug for it?

I believe you're talking about the road draft tube hook up coming off front driver's the block. Looks to be a 1" freeze plug like those on the head. I believe someone posted a source for those up here not too long ago...you might check back the first page or two in this section...title should say 'freeze plugs' IIRC. Good luck

Road draft tube is the early version of crankcase ventilation...would have been just a 90* coming off that opening connecting to a few inch long section of tube/pipe that pointed straight down to the ground for ventilating crankcase pressue from blowby and such.

There is also a version that plumbed that fitting back over to the carburetor base and a PCV valve, before ford moved the pcv valve to the the valvecover (see fig 20)

So it has nothing to do with the cooling system then. Great. I've been reluctant to start my motor for fear of coolant pouring out that hole. If you cant tell already, most of this is new to me.
