Another night and another attempt lol
So I wanted to try gravity feed fuel to possibly exclude one of the issues and attack another one. Well, didn't go well...as usual for now. I'm having serious doubts before each attempt now.
So what we got: I left everything as it was from the previous try: timing was supposed to be around 12-13 degrees advance; double checked the float level: 18.5 mm height and 23mm full drop. Carb was set the same way - 1.5 turns out for idle mixture screws and 0.5 turn in for idle speed.
I got that mini bike tank off amazon, that should be at about 1.5 liter capacity, so I probably filled it up with about 400 ml (a bit less than 2 cups) of fuel.
I think my timing from previous run was waaaaay off - I'm not sure if that's because I set the timing with open throttle to keep the engine running or something else. This time I've checked it with the light and it showed that I was firing #1 past TDC for a lot. Judge by the sound of the engine, but it was not normal. I don't think I can set timing accurately without the car somewhat running okay. You see me trying to get to the previous mark on the dizzy to normalize the timing, which I couldn't do. Felt like I fucked up timing so much, that it wasn't firing correct cylinders.
Now to the carb. During those 3-4 min of running and trying, it pretty much drained all the fuel from that little tank (about 400 ml). I was flooded again and had to remove spark plugs and crank the engine to get fuel out of cylinder 6. But so far the fuel didn't seem to seep into the oil pan.
I ended up removing the carb and all gaskets under it were soaking with fuel as well. Not sure if that's a normal or if they should be at least not soaking wet.
Removed the dizzy and will try to start there from scratch - drop it again at TDC on compression stroke, advance a bit and maybe, maybe try to start again if I have time tomorrow or Monday morning.
