Hi all. I have gotten everything in place. I will eventually be doing the tri-carb setup. But for now i have blocked the front and rear holes and just have the middle weber carb on. Now this was the first time i tried to start the engine . It cranked over but would not start. It made a pop noise a few times but thats all. I ended up switching back to the original carb to see if that would make a difference and i could not get it to start with that carb either. So please i NEED advice on what i should try next.

Thanks

Pull the #1 plug and disconnect the coil. remove the distributor cap. Now bump the engine around until you hear it whoosh. That means it's coming up on compression stroke. Look at the timing marks. It should be near TDC or just before. Now look at the rotor. It should be pointed at #1 plug wire.

Now, by hand, rotate the engine so that it's still on compression and turn the timing mark to just before TDC. Now set the distributor so that the rotor is facing #1. This will get you close.

I'm guessing you have the distributor 180 degrees off.

Thanks for the explanation. i will give it a try today. I will post my results.
