Hole in my water pump

There's a hole in the top of my water pump between the pulley and the fan. It's a machined hole that looks like it's meant to be there. Is something supposed to be in the hole?

I believe that is a weep hole, if the seal goes it will start to weep there instead of out the shaft. I think all water pumps have a hole like that.

the little hole is a weep hole. it is there to allow pressure build up in the bearing area to bleed off to prevent it from building up and blowing out the seals. it should however be facing down, not up, to prevent moisture from entering and damaging the bearings.

on the shaft (stickin out for the fan blade)? on the cast WP housing? threaded?
Pic all ways help...

the hole is about a 1/4 in in diameter. Sound right? Definitely facing up though...

thats right, you just have you pump on upside down.
