Hood clearance with Holley 2300

I recently decided to do a ram air set up on my stang. I bought an aircleaner off ebay strictly for the snorkles, then won a Holley 2300 later in the week. Therefore, I will try and use the air cleaner (off an 80's 5.0, same as in Mustang geezer's site about ram air) but I dont know if it will fit. I am goin to use clifford's carb adapter, will that make the carb too high to use that aircleaner. I really really hope not, but if so, is there ANY way to use the ram air with that carb?????

I think in Mustang Geezers site he makes his own adapter thats why I ask. But I thank you for pointing out that the CLifford adapter isnt THAT much taller than original, thats a BIG relief, maybe I can squeeze it under now!!!!!!!!!

It should fit allright.....My adapter plate plus gaskets is almost 1.25" thick altogether and I have no clearance problems. IIRC, the Holley is actually a bit shorter than a 1 bbl carb, and if you are using the same aircleaner as mine, it sits down a lot further than what the stock aircleaner does!

Just remember to shut your hood very carefully the 1st time

lol, yeah, Ill remember to close it sloooooowly. I appreciate it Mustang geezer, I was about to get discouraged, cause things are getting slim around here with my car, but now it seems everythings goin ok!

8) has anyone used the Clifford adapter on a later model 200? My Son's 200 is in an 81 Granada and I'm just curious how the swap to a 5200 was handled?

Matt.

I have a Holley 2300, with the stock adapter, an open air filter (of about 1.5 inches) in a 66 coupe and it fits fine.

Doug is right the air cleaner housing actually sits down further than an open air filter that sits on top of the carb.

The H2300 works great on my stock 200 engine. For me this worked great and this is not a carb you hear too much about. There is no need to waste your money on a Clifford adapter ($60.00  ) just use the stock adapter.

Hp,
So the carb works out well huh??? Thats good to hear. If it werent for bein away for school and only getting to work on it during the weekends, I would already be done prolly, but I figure I got 2 or three weekends left and Ill be firing her up!!!! Hope it all works out. I need to worry about throttle linkage and jets for the carb next
