how long is the bolt?

Can anyone tell me what size the bolt that holds in the thermostat housing is?

It's the one that is on the right (there are 2 - one on each side of the inlet for the coolant).
I think it's a 5/16" bolt, but I don't know about length...or if the 5/16" is right. I don't have anything in there, lol, so I need to get it all closed up.
Thanks,

It looks like a 5/16" UNC bolt to me. I'd suggest measuring the thermostat housing flange thickness, and adding ½". There's a washer with the bolt.

Put some sealant or something on the threads; Blue Hylomar or Permatex #3 would be my choice.

toss your old bolts as they rust and snap off easily. Use some stainless in their place. When removing those old bolts, use some type of penetrant before removing them and do not use air tools.

I'll try the 1/2" add thing. I think I'll head down to the hardware store and just get a few in that general length.

Problem is, I have a stud in there, with about 3 nuts. This is all holding on my (ridiculous) A/C compressor mount, which has been posted in a post a while ago.

Thanks for the tips guys
