How to make log go 100 in the quarter?

How would you make a 200 go 100+ in the quarter mile? This would have a big log head. No turbo but a supercharger with 8 pounds of boost. The tranny would be a C4 race ready and a 8inch with 3:50's in the rear. Would it be possible to do 100 or better in the quarter?

thanks,

Curtis

How about
206 cubic inch motor
Big log head, everything done to it, from Ford Falcon Six Performance Handbook
Big valves
274 cam
1.6 roller rockers
3 1bll
Headers
Electronic ignition
and a Paxton supercharger with 8 pounds of boost

I think that would do it.

I was running in the 92-94 mph range last Summer.....Lots of upgrades this Winter so I might see it this summer with no boost or nitrous :D :D :D

Alll I can say is open your wallet....if its big enough, you can do it

Doug what was you setup then? And what are the changes you have made? Thats damn fast for a six. What is that like a 15 second pass?

If you figure your car probably weighs 2900 - 3000 lbs with driver andd fuel, you should need about 225 hp to go high 13's @ 100 in the Comet.

8 psi boost would put you near that figure if you had a decent exhaust and a 500 Holley on a stock 200.

A blower with 3 1 bbls? Bet that intake plumbing would be a nightmare....

An unrepentant theft from the Slant Six forum!

Not for the bandwidth impared, this is an example of substantial talent from Rayman440, an Aussie bloke who loves his Valiants, and has built his "misses" one wild car.

C'mon people, follow in Ray's footsteps. And if you can, praise him for a job well done!

I had a 250 that I put in my 68 mustang. The engine was 10.5:1 with 3 ones, cran solid lifter cam-the biggest cam they made off the shelf at the time,a small N.O.S. fogger,I was running the big valve head-with NO work done to it just a valve job.stock torque converter and a 3.50:1 gear. The car ran 13.89 at 98 M.P.H.At the time some people thought I was dumb for using a six particuarly a guy at my work with a 67 chevell SS 396 with a 4 speed you should of saw the look on his face when we were side by side. He was speed shifting his ass off and Im starting to pull away.I will never forget that.

Doug, looks like you are making progress for more power. You will definately need the 3000 converter with that much camshaft especially with a 108 lobe center. With the extra cam duration you may not need the water injection cause of the extra cam duration to bleed off some compression. Think you may go the 1.65 full roller rockers? Make your choice before you bolt on the head cause you will need different lifters which are the oil through type. What type of headgasket are you planning to use? the .021 steel shim, or the ford replacement composite gasket you turned me onto?
Keep up the good work. you will be in v-8 performance catagory soon. Bill

Bill,

Going with the composite Ford gasket again (I stocked up on them! ) And I'm going to stay with the 1.6 rocker arms. If I was going to switch from regular rockers to rollers I would go with the 1.65 ratio but being I allready have the 1.6 ratio I dont think the performance gain would be worth the cost :D :D :D

Later,

Doug

Doug, please mike the compressed thickness of you old gasket.
By the way i have the 350 holley talking to me know, finally got the cold start-up & place into drive stall fixed. Now I will go back to the 500 & possibly put more pump shot into it either with a larger nozzle & or more agressive pump. I put the 50cc pump back on the bowl with a .0295 drilled out nozzle, but will try the modified blue cam as before. Bill

Turbo, like Does 10's
C4, like Does 10's
Female driver doing the racing, like Does10's.

That ought to do it!

Doug, to get 100 mph 1/4, this is a long shot but after you get the fresh engine installed, run it through the traps & see what you turn?
Since you have a water alcohol injection system, what would happen if you spiked the alcohol with nitromethane. You may have to retard the total advance slightly, but it may give you the extra zap to get you to the century mark.
Caution don't just add nitro to your fuel, it will not blend with gasoline unless you use tolulene as a blending agent. nitromethane is mixable with alcohol. Caution it could cause rubber products in the fuel system to swell or decinagrate. I would try a 25% mix with 50% alcohol & 25% water or 75% alcohol & no water. William
