i got my crossflow today

I have not done this yet so I can not give first hand confirmation, but I have been told that 2V cleveland valves can have the head cut down to 1.840" and used as a substitute for the intake side. Also that 1.600" Chebby exhaust valves can be substituted for the exhaust side. I am not sure what other machining would be required to get the overall and tip length correct. Hopefully someone else can chime in on this, I'm on the look-out for this knowledge as well.

If you check out some of the Aussie forums, they recommend only upgrading the intake valve to 1.84" and the exhaust valves to 1.56" maximum. The crossflow intake valve is the restriction for flow, not the exhaust side. These size valves will support 400Hp in a NA crossflow. The crossflow engine can also tolerate higher CRs than our stock cast iron, and it likes long duration cams but not dual pattern ones.

If you stay with a carb or throttle body, purchase an Aussiespeed intake. Their intakes, either 2Bbl or 4Bbl, only have a 3% variance between runners. They are great intakes. I have a 4Bbl Aussiespeed intake that I'm planning to use (once I get it from Bayrunner).

Just to let you guys know. I believe that the Crane Cam Rocker Arm Guideplate Conversion Kits 52655-16 are available now at the Summit Racing website

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CRN-52655-16/

As the website states - These rocker arm guideplate conversion kits from Crane allow you to convert engines with pedestal-mount rocker arms into adjustable-type valvetrains, without machine work or cylinder head removal. Each of these kits includes guideplates, guideplate inserts, studs, a stud installation nut, and instructions. These kits are intended for mild performance applications using hydraulic lifter or hydraulic roller cams. They're not recommended for competition use.

In a nutshell, you are able to use adjustable 1.73 ratio full roller rockers on the crossflow head since it uses the same rockers as the Ford 351Cleveland, and 460 V8. Last time I saw this kit on eBay, it sold for over $200.

Read about the kit here:

Available also at Jegs and Lane Automotive

rocklord's right, I forgot to mention cutting the head down on 1.600" Cheby valves down to 1.540"
Only time I've heard mention of dual pattern cams is in turbo motors.

Thanks for the links, Dan.
