I need the skinny on 2bbl carb adaptations

Can I get some feedback from those out there who have adapted a 2bbl holley 2300 or autolite/motorcraft 2100 carb to a 200?

Who makes the best adapter?

And more of interest, has anyone gone from a 2bbl adapter to a 2bbl direct mount? If there is, could you provide your experience in as far as the performance (seat-o-pants meter) between the two?

Thanks as always,

Kirk

where to start...there are PLENTY on topics on it...why dont you do a search?

Kirk,

I cant tell you the differance between the 2 being mine has always been a direct mount, but I would think that the direct mount would be the way to go especially with what you bought off ebay!

Go with a throttle cable and toss the mechanical linkage. I dinked around for months trying to get the stock mechanical linkage to work right with the Holley and never got it to reach WOT consistantly all the time.

I think that you will want to stay in the 350 cfm range. :D :D

Hey Doug,

Thanks for your input. When you installed your 2bbl how did you deal with the C4 kickdown? I am currently using the pedal, cable and kickdown linkage from an early 80's fox car.

I plan on using a 1.08 autolite 2100 with the turbo.

I also have some Granada discs and spindles to install so I can get the rig slowed down...

I joined the local Mustang club and most of the guys there are 5 liter fox boys. When I told them I had a 65 Mustang, the first thing out of their mouths was "does it have a 289?" Needless to say the disappointment on hearing it was a 200 six was hard to hide. So this sparked a little bit of my competitive spirit in me, got me thinking I should wake my little motor up bit and make these guys do a double take...

I have a bonestock 1980 200 out of a Fairmont in my car now with a D7 head and a Carter 250 YF on top with dual outlet headers. So I'm hoping hasa68mustang's creation will heat things up a bit.

We'll see.
