Hows it going, fellow Ford 6 ers?

Heres my situation, and the updates. Hope the informed can help.

The block has 5 freeze plugs, and also has a 3.5 inch bore. Is it a 250? Ill be right back with casting #s. I have to pull the car to the front out of the garage.

If it is, Ill have to get that 1 bbl off soon. I just have to find a 2 bbl with a choke setup similar to mine, so I dont have to change choke linkage. My father has boxes of 2 bbls just waiting for a home. The 200/250 was a common one that he had in stock.

Thanks,

Joe

The head is- D3DE-6090-AA I know its a 200 or 250 head, just want to find out more details.

The block is- 6015-B C8QE (The Q could be a 0)

Im not positive about the block codes. I know its a 200, I want to find out if its a 250.

It could be this- 3018-B C8QE

Any help or links to help would be great.

Thanks, guys.

Joe

OK my mistake. There was a mistake in the numbers, a piece of something must have gotten into the casting numbers during casting, making the "D" look like a "Q" with a little "," after, or connected to the D.

Anyways, heres the codes, and I already figured it out I think.

AL C8DE 6015-B. I looked it up, and its a 200.

The head resembles codes of a 250 head. Mine was D3DE-AA. They made a 250 head with codes D3BE-AA, though that still confirms nothing on the head.

We used to hate it when newbies on turboford.org used to ask us dumb questions, so I hope it wasnt all that redundant from what youre usually asked. Theres always that one question everybody asks when theyre a newbie. Thats the one, right?

Still a valid question, and I did most of the research...except finding out about the head, if its a 250.

Thanks.

In the early 70s, maybe 73, they started to put the same head on the 200s as the 250s

Does that make it a "250" head then?

Thanks too, for the info, by the way.

Howdy Joe:

Check the bore again. 200 and 250 have a 3.68" bore. 170 have a 3.5" bore. Also check to see haw many bolts are holding the water pump to the block- 3 + 200, 4 + 250.

D3DE-AA heads are identical on 200 and 250s of that casting. It will ahve a 1.75" carb hole, 1.65" intake valves, 1.38" exhaust. NO hard seats. The chamber will likely be a large 62 cc, low compression version.

Adios, David

Actually, while typing my numbers in, I wrote "3.5 inch bore" instead of "3.5 inch stroke".

Ill have to look at the water pump later.
