Import Killer's First Turbo Pictures are here!

Panic, I was thinking the same thing(231-200cid) so we did the math for a GN T-3 and a 200 and the compressor map shows it to be almost dead on perfect. It is not to big at all. I can tell you guys from doing it and driving it myself a stock GN T-3 on a 200 is just right. No lag time and lots of power! I have a bigger exhaust housing(.82) on a GN turbo on it now and it still runs great! The .82 may be a little to big on a stock 200 without a higher stall speed converter. I am running a 2300RPM and with some boost it stalls to 3000! Also, I am not running any kind of extra fuel to it at all. I tapped the fuel pump for boost, put a solid float in the carb, cut the choke horn off and sealed up the choke lever hole. That's it. I have had no problems with it at all. It drives like a factory FI turbo car. It is UNREAL how good it runs for the parts I have in it. I had to see it to beleive it myself! :D

Dan,

Any idea when you'll have a video or sound bite?

Slade

I actually have took some video of it doing a little street racing a few weeks ago but it is really not that much or that great. I was wanting you guys to see it at the track but I have it apart right now. Trying to fix some things to get it ready for the track. I am working on fixing the brakes, installing the manual shift kit and new pan, hooking up my AutoMeters, and fixing my badly leaking turbo all at the same time. :? I just started a new job the first of Febuary working long hours and on the night shift so I am still trying to get used to the hours plus overtime is cutting my weekends in half every other week. Thats okay though.......LOTS car money! 8) I can send the videos I have if you want but like I said there is not that much.

maybe it is time to get a ball bearing turbo?

I love that turbonetics turbine you have with the intergral wastegate flange on it.

for those interested I might be offering up a generica turbo kit..

manifold, oil lines and carb bonnent.

Yea, a ball bearing turbo would be nice. I want to do a lot more to it now that I have the money to do it like get the old nitrous motor some forged pistons and get it ready for boost. I think I will also spray it with the turbo but that will call for some MAJOR fuel system upgrades. I like my GN turbo with that Turbonetics .82 housing, it gives you that option for an external waste gate. I lucked up on it when I bought it at the Buick Nationals for $50. It needed to be rebuilt so that is what I did and it ran great but leaked some oil so that is all I am fixing. It should be fine for a while if I can get it to stop leaking. If not it will be time to upgrade!

well I cut my flanges today and drilled them out....taking a lunch break and then I need to clean them up a little and dig out the mig so I can weld them up. I found some 1.5"x1.5" tube instead of the 1.5"x2" tube so I am using that. extarnally this will look alot like the factory manifold only with a flange int eh middle
