I have a 95 f-150 with a fuel injected 300.
i want to put a turbo on it but I have no idea where to start. My friend owns an eclipse with a turbo and he is helping me understand how they work and what not. Where do I start? How do I do this? What do I buy?

start with buying a book or two on turbos, youll learn alot more than a friend ever could. as far as how to, its up to you, your either going to have to fab your manifold or pay someone to make one because you cant buy one. youll need alot... lol I Say get a good book on turbos, turbochargers by hugh macinnes (sp) was a pretty good book, I read it a few times before and while doing my setup

For EFI based turbo systems the book you need to read is Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. He lays the whle thing out in pretty great detail.

There is no turbo kit for a 300. You need to do all the work yourself and you're going to have to fabricate just about everything except the turbo and its ancillaries.

see thats what i'm not sure about. what all do i have to fabricate? i know i have to make a manifold with a wastegate for the turbo (or am i off on that as well?)

If you want to get into this, do what the people who have done it already are telling you to do. Get a BOOK!

For some basic knowledge of how the stuff works you can go here.

The people on this forums know what they are doing, but unless you ask a question that has a specific answer you aren't going to get very far. Start with the basics.

Linc does a good job of outlining the way to pick your turbo.

But before you even get there you want to read up on EVERYTHING. Don't go into this like the pieces are coming out of a Lego set. You'll learn the hard way that things don't just fit. If you want it to come out right, then do the research.

When you get the basics down, then you might want to visit this site. If you understand what's going this site is a pretty good help when it comes to thinking about your entire build. I know it's taboo to link to a V8 build, and on top of that it's a Camaro, but whenever it mentions numbers in multiples or factors of eight just imagine them as six.

Good luck. That should give you a good start.
