I just picked up my D7 head, in pieces. Yep, we cut it apart. Now I need help with posting these pictures. Who can/will help me post them?
Thanks,
Ken

Wallaka,
I tried to send them to you, I keep getting an error 008?
If you send your email, I'll try again.
Ken

The head is bone stock, except we added a 1.89 intake and 1.59 exhaust, these valves are 2300 turbo valves. I am going to make a cut, perpendicular, through the combustion chamber to see how thick the material is in the water jacket.
If you want mechanical dimensions of the intake runner, or exhaust port, feel free. I'll measure all day long. The end result will be to port the head/log as large as possible.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

This is good info.

Ken, I hope you don't mind me changing the title. It makes it easier to find when someone uses the search function. 8)

I am would like to buy another D7 head to modify. Right now, I have a good D5 head. This head had a crack in it, that is why we cut it up. If you are in GA, Don Dixon is a great engine builder. Please give him a call.

What? Wallaka I don't understand your comment.

I'm pretty sure he's expressing his feelings about the log and intake design, if so, +1.

Very Cool pictures... 2 and 3 look very restrictive but I suspect it only looks that way because you cut it down the middle of the valve guide, the guide is definitely more intrusive on the intake side.

For comparison, it would be cool to cut up an early 60's head.

I am looking at removing the valve guide boss and then remove ~.125 inch of the roof of the intake port. That thickness will leave the roof wall thickness the same as the thinnest part of the intake casting. Right behind the valve cover rail. I never realized how much material is in this head.
That means the intake port will be 1.25 tall and not neck down from 1.25 to 1.095 at the tanget point behind the valve guide.
That should help with the volume flow of air alittle.
What do you think?
Thanks, Ken

Stubby, the valves are for illustration. The 2300 valve is 1/2 inch longer than the 250 valve. We were just playing around with ideas.

Wallaka, Thanks, there is alot of material that can be removed, or at least contoured. Before I start removing material, I want to show the idea to a friend of mine that has ported a couple of sets of heads for me.

I have a couple of heads I might be willing to part with. I have a C9 and I think a D7 or a D8. My uncle also has some early sixties round-log castings under his shed, but they are really rough. Might be suited to your purposes though

Hey Eric, I would be interested in a rebuildable D7 head, if you have one for sale. Let me know.
Thanks,
Ken
