Not if you install it correctly and put in the ballast resistor to drop the voltage down to about 10.5 volts. That's the mistake most people make. Had one in my Ranchero for the whole 8 1/2 years I had it. Decided to go that route after using one in my Mustang. Replaced the distributor cap after 52,000 miles because moisture got down in one of the plug towers and corroded it. Inside was still in outstanding shape. I believe a testament to the quality of their components. My $.02.

I installed one that my Dad had purchased for the Mustang over 10 years ago , but was never installed. It is some really nice construction and runs fantastic! No complaints from me.
Accell's the 1 I hear bad things about all the time. however, I did just purchase a set of Accell Superstock 8.8 wires, direct fit for DSII 6cyl. because they were yellow, and I wanted yellow wires ( color match to the engine )
