Just got my DUI today.

Hey, I just got my dui dizzy for my 200. Just a quick question before i blow it up. Do I attach the wires running from my stock slide on coil connector to the BAT and Tach ports. Plan on cutting my connector off and attaching the clips they supplied and running it that way. Anybody installed the new DUI yet?

You only hook a wire to the tach terminal if you have a tachometer or some other thing like a EFI computer. The batt terminal is your 12v source that comes on with the key. If you were running a Duraspark this would be the + wire from the coil and module. If you were running points it would also be the + from the coil but most people say you should remove the ballast resistor or wire so you get full 12 volts to the new coil.

Just like TJ says, you'll want a full 12 volts. Do a search and you'll find what you need. A few DUI's have been installed by a number of us.

Good luck,

thanx sounds good. One more question, since the cap aint number or pointed to 1, do u just set at TDC and drop it in but making sure it is pointing a tip. And then just number in firing order from there? First one i put in, dont want to jack it up, so always ask to be better safe than sorry.

The dizzy doesnt know what number one is. As long as you have the number one wire where the rotor is pointing at TDC and the wires will reach you should be fine. Order does not change, clockwise 1 5 3 6 2 4 (happens to be the same as the chev I6). #1 is usually around the 6 o'clock position if you are standing on the drivers side. The factory GM hei caps had a clip/retainer thing that snapped on the top that had the numbers on it.

I did a Duraspark and used plugs and gap for a 78 Fairmont with the 200. IIRC the plugs were the same only the gap changed. I think I went with 55. If no one else gets you an answer I will try to remember to look and see what I was running tomorrow.

Performance Distributor recomends a gap around .055 with their distributor.

I'm using 55 gap and stock Autolite plugs extended tip. Somebody recommended a hotter plug, but I haven't got there yet.

Anybody got the lo-down on the differences/benefits of hotter and colder plugs?

im running ac delcos in mine and gapped out to 55. Hotter plugs are recommended because they can produce hotter spark, but it really matters what type of climate u run in. My plugs seem to hit hard and produce a notice horespower gain from my dizzy.

Quick question off my original topic, Anybody know if mike got a new stock of headers in? I ordered mine like a month ago and he said he was supposed to be gettin some in, and i havent heard anything. Just wanderin cuz i really want to put it on. And is it possible to modify the dual outlet high starter to fit on a motor with a low starter? And how hard is it?
