Hey man, I just thought of a good reason for you to come by again (and bring that Ranchero grill with ya)...you left your ratchet wrench under my hood. It's so nifty I decided to buy a set of my own, so I figure you'll probably want this one back.
Yep, the new starter's all ready to go. I'm going to try adjusting the idle a bit, then crank her over again. Might have to recharge the battery for a bit though. We shall see...
Well that new starter did the trick - she started right up. The timing is way off though - I'm getting a lot of popping and backfire. I'm guessing they're two separate problems (you can't get ignition out of both ends from one cause...can you?) Got a pressure regulator on the way, since I heard the 5200 can get overpumped pretty easily.
Actually I just got home from the ER a little while ago, Bronchial Pneumonia with an ear infection. =PPP I haven't been able to eat hard in 2 weeks. Ask Len about it! =)
You need to look after those lungs. They're needed to confidently whisper sweet nothings in the ear of Miss Right. Wheezing and coughing up muck will turn her off pretty quick.
I was planning on waiting until I made a little more progress (engine and drivetrain are phase 1, suspension is 2, interior and body are 3), but what the heck...I'll slap something up tomorrow. Might link to a video of her firing up if I'm feeling froggy.
As I promised here are a few quick pics. Keep in mind she's still early in the rebuild.
Here she was, as I got her. Motor and drivetrain are shot at this point. But the body is still pretty clean.
Pic of the old engine bay.
The exterior hasn't changed any yet, but here's what I've done so far (thanks to folks like Addo and Wilhelmus, AZCoupe of course, and some of the guys at TFFN)
