Very confusing!!! Which should I use for the following, if any:

1) torque convertor to crank

2) bell housing to tranny

3) tranny to engine

4) head bolts to block

5) rocker pedestal to head

1. Flexplate to crankshaft, oil resistant sealer -RTV sealer on flexplate bolts.

2. Rf headbolt, RTV sealer all the others are blind holes, no coolant present, so no sealer needed if studs are used, other wise moly lube on headgasket bolts except the rf.

3. Trans & Bellhousing, none required.

4. Rocker arm pedastal, none.

5. Converter to flexplate, red loctite.

There are locations in which Loctite is not reccomended to be used, as so noted.

One location you noted but did not mention was whatever gets bolted on to the flywheel. Put a bit of Loctite on to the face of the crankshaft flange mount. Once chinched down, this will force a nother bind between flange and the flexplate. The threads are OK, but slop some on to the face of the flange too. The stops the 1/2 degree of twist present each time the engine torques up. It also is secondary way to cease the bolts from coming out.

And per Heinkel Co. who now owns Loctite, use the green only when a very high heat application is expected. I used it to set in cylinder sleeves recently.

I also use loctite red on the camshaft bolt & the crankshaft damper bolt.

Otherwise use the product as per the previous posts.

Also a good idea on the loctite on the crankshaft flange, thanks for the good info.
