Got to looking for the engine code. C5DE 6015 H. Best I can tell its a later model 6 (78). Gonna upgrade to an HEI Distributor. Seems it may be the 5/16 size. Any thoughts?
My '61 Comet , before the 250 swap., had the same engine casting #'s on the smoking 200 it had when I got it. I thought it was from an early Fairlane or Meteor?. It was an early 7 main bearing 200 with ONLY the small bellhouse / tranny bolt pattern.
Gave away the early head and after offering rest for free for @ 2 years here on the forum, I used a BFH to "'disassemble " the worn block for disposal... I can't remember but IMHO, most likely has the early 1/4" oil pump/dizzy drive not later 5/16.

Yes it is at least a 1965 model year block if you can find the Casting Date Code (from 1964 1/2 to late 1965). If you wanted I can also tell you the exact day the your block was cast at the Fird engine Foundry that short block might be the original engine for your Mustang. You are right by the way the Design Numbers indicate its a Falcon block but this just means the the part was first designed for use in a Falcon X3 you will also find the same engine blocks were used and installed in many other new 1965 year model Ford's and Mercury's. The 1965 200 has the first year to use a 5/16 inch oil pump drive still after all these years you never know what years parts have been swapped into these old Fords with out checking the parts. Best of luck
Whacha wun do? Make a cruzer, race ca?
"...upgrade to an HEI Distributor..."
No seriously,
don't do that (we have guys here can explain the oil leakes etc). What is the specific use of this now, when you are finished? What R the current complaints?
