Metal Head Gasket

Hi,

I have found a NOS metal head gasket for a 200 my question is it worth buying? I will need to mill the
head anyway because it's 62cc head I guess if I wanted to keep the stock 52cc head it would save milling.

8) you are going to have to run the numbers and see what compression ratio you would get if you kept the 62cc chambers and used the oem style steel head gasket. i believe that classicinlines website has a compression ratio calculator you can use.

Not verified but here's my input.. :

The small Ford "Metal Shim" head gaskets application sometimes cites fitting both 144/170 and 200 . Without a verified part number I would assume it's the fairly common 7916 144/170 gasket. The 200 cyl bore application gasket is harder to find:

Truthy archive:

Ford STEEL SHIM GSKTS:
> 144-170 CID CODE-6051A CODE-6051C
>Aftermarket 144-170 CID Fel-Pro 7916 SH, Victor 1163BS, McCord 6483
>Ford 200 CID C3OZ-6051A or C5AZ-6051B

> Ford 250 CID C9DZ-6051B

The last 200 metal shim gasket I got on Ebay was NOS but had been folded and creased - reluctantly I returned it - still wonder if it would work :? ...

Currently run a steel shim 6051 OEM gasket on C8' 170 (MAverick) with milled worked D7 head/2bbl/headers. - At @9.5:1 cr 170 runs strong . Deck and head prep and careful 'torqueing is encouraged.

I ran the numbers through the calculator and yes its a little easier to get the 9.5 CR I'm hoping for with the steel shim gasket.
It's a 6051 but i want to confirm it's not the "C" but a A or B if so i will pick it up.

Point taken about careful torquing.......thanks!
