After reading through the sticky (and the links) and other posts, I'm a bit confused.
One post mentions the oil pump drive being larger in the DSII and that means a later oil pump (1967 or later is said to work) is needed along with its pump drive shaft. But other posts from guys with early cars do not mention any issue with the oil pump drive.
Also, its said the oil pump drive portion of the DSII (below the drive gear) needs to be reduced in diameter to fit through the block. Correct?
Another post mentions the part of the DSII that fits into the hole at the surface of the block (just below the clamp shoulder) is just slightly too large and also needs to be reduced. Correct?
So, it seems I need: later oil pump and its drive shaft. Reduce the diameter of that lower section of the DSII below the drive gear. Reduce the round part just under the clamp shoulder where it fits into the block (the part that has the O-ring).
Correct?
