motor mount install

I have another broken motor mount. Long story short of it was that I'd been running with a broken tranny mount. That was causing me to snap motor mounts or at least that's my theory. Anyway, last summer I replaced the tranny mount but didn't think to replace the stressed motor mounts at the same time. Should I take the extra step to loosen the tranny mount before jacking up the engine to replace the mounts?

thats not a bad idea, just remember to retighten the trans mount when you are done.

I doubt it is worth the time.

Remove the nut from the bottom of the motor mount.
Support the engine (lift it a little bit off the frame pads, I'd go no more than 1/2")
Remove the two bolts holding the motor mount to the engine, they should come right up.
Reverse procedure for installation.

My thinking is that with only 1/2" rise at the motor mount boss location, the rest of the drivetrain is barely moving/pivoting at all. And by the time it gets to the transmission mount it is going to be negligible..

The only thing I may be leery of is the Z-bar if you have a manual transmission. All hoses and cables will easily stretch the 1/2".
